Community Outreach is a small committee of employees at EDMS tasked with organizing and facilitating volunteer opportunities for all employees focusing on the community around us. The motivation is to provide volunteer experiences for safe serving establishments while enriching those who are part of these organizations. One major goal is to learn to look outside of ourselves and benefit others around us.
The power of giving back and building relationships within our community tremendously important and it’s something we are very passionate about, so much so it’s part of our mission (“…enrich the surrounding community through our people and time.”). However, it’s not just EDMS that has a passion for being involved in our community, our employees do too. It gives them an avenue to give back, help collaborate and be inspired.
The Community Outreach focuses on organizations who serve children, elderly, disabled, as well as those who serve people in our community who may have fallen on hard times. A few examples include: End 68 Hours of Hunger – Somersworth, Lydia’s House of Hope, Strafford County Homemakers and Caring & Sharing.
What are the benefits of volunteering?
“Perhaps the first and biggest benefit people get from volunteering is the satisfaction of incorporating service into their lives and making a difference in their community and country.
The intangible benefits alone—such as pride, satisfaction, and accomplishment—are worthwhile reasons to serve.”
