New Lumea Feature in Maine – LEIE

We are pleased to announce a new feature in Lumea which allows districts to input the names of those individuals who may not be Lumea users, but are directly involved with the Medicaid billing process, for our monthly check against the Office of Inspector General’s List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) or the federal government’s Excluded Parties List System (EPLS). New Lumea Feature in Massachusetts – LEIE

We are pleased to announce a new feature in Lumea which allows districts to input the names of those individuals who may not be Lumea users, but are directly involved with the Medicaid billing process, for our monthly check against the Office of Inspector General’s List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) or the federal government’s Excluded Parties List System(EPLS).

Under District Management in Lumea, Administrators will now see a workspace titled “LEIE (Non-Lumea Users)”. In this workspace, Administrators may enter the first name, last name, and date of birth for any individuals involved in the Medicaid billing process. Examples could include referring licensed practitioners of the healing arts, specialized transportation providers (bus drivers, bus monitors) evaluators and managing employees (special education director, building coordinator, business manager, superintendent). Any potential matches will be part of the report sent to you monthly by your Claims Analyst.

It is very important that schools consider participating in this process and inputting all individuals, on an ongoing basis, who are involved in the Medicaid billing process at any level as described above.  School districts may be subject to civil and monetary penalties if an excluded individual is utilized in the Medicaid billing process.

Please contact your Program Specialist with any questions.

Improved IEP Approval and Activation Functionality

We’ve always allowed the activation of approved IEPs when they were printed, regardless of who printed them.  This posed some issues because it was common for Case Managers to print an IEP once they received the email that it had been approved.  Once the approved IEP was activated, it was removed from the approved IEP list under IEP Management.  This meant it was off the radar of the administrator who was tasked with printing and mailing it home.

It is that time of year again!  Each year, the Maine Department of Education reviews the current form set, and makes any necessary revisions. All revisions for the year typically take effect on August 1st. MSB™ has worked closely with the department, and is grateful for the opportunity to do so, to ensure the transition to the updated documents is as smooth as possible for our districts.
