Action Required for All New Service Providers
Effective January 17, 2017, the Health PAS Online Portal (MIHMS) was updated to support the provider enrollment requirements of the Affordable Care Act, which mandates new provider screening and enrollment requirements that state Medicaid agencies must implement to comply with the federal law. For complete details about these requirements, see the New Screening Requirements document published by MaineCare.
What do you need to know? These requirements apply to all school districts who are updating their current enrollment or submitting a new application for enrollment. If you need to add a new Service Provider to your MIHMS enrollment, you will now need to enter the Social Security Number (SSN) for that Service Provider. For many school districts, we have historically added new Service Providers to your MIHMS enrollment. It’s important for you to understand we will NOT be able to input the SSN of Service Providers on your behalf, so action will be required on your part to submit SSNs for new Service Providers as part of the enrollment maintenance. You may complete the entire provider maintenance yourself, or you may request that your MSB Claims Analyst start the provider maintenance case for you. Once the case has been opened, your Claims Analyst will provide you with the case number so you can log in to MIHMS to enter the Social Security Number of the service provider and complete the process.
We are happy to offer a guide to assist you with the process of inputting the SSN of any new Service Providers as part of the enrollment maintenance process. Click here to view the guide for Entering SSNs for New Service Providers in MIHMS. Please be sure to notify MSB as soon as new Service Providers are hired to avoid losing out on potential reimbursement since MIHMS will not backdate new provider enrollment.
