MSB has made some updates to how students are addressed on the Advance Written Notice and the Written Notice. Previously, the student’s name was included in the salutation of these forms if the student was in grade nine or higher. This will no longer be controlled by the student’s grade. Users will now be in control of how the student is handled on notices, whether as part of the salutation with each parent or addressed separately in their own form (or both).
In the previous model, there was a toggle for “Adult Student?” in the parent information tab. Toggling this field to Y added the student’s name in the salutation with the parent. The “Adult Student” toggle has been changed to “Print student name with parent on Notices?”. This will still add the student’s name in the salutation with that parent.
A new toggle has been added at the top of the Parent Information tab that is not associated with any parent record. This field is called “Print a Separate Advanced Written Notice and Written Notice for the student” and it prints a separate notice addressed only to the student.
Here is a view of the current parent info work space and the new one.
