Updates to Goal Area of Focus (Maine)

MSB loves user feedback! Over the last school year, we received excellent feedback on the availability and flexibility of the Goal Area of Focus (GAF) called Behavioral. Historically, this GAF has been used for 3 district purposes: goals for academically focused behavioral goals in an IEP, clinical goals from a Section 65 ITP, and clinical goals from a Section 28 ITP. There is currently no distinction in a Lumea session between an academically focused behavioral goal and clinical behavioral goals from a Section 65/28 ITP.

The feedback we have received prompted us to create 2 new GAFs in all accounts. Effective August 1, 2017, you will see Day Treatment (Section 65) and Life Skills (Section 28) along with the existing Behavioral. Your case managers can continue to use Behavioral for IEP goals, but these will no longer become available in BHP sessions, which should help with concerns over goals getting locked for editing, and with BHPs documenting on non-medically necessary/clinical goals.

This change will not affect sessions that are already posted and billed, and we are taking steps to ensure sessions created prior to the change, but still unposted, will not be affected by this change. We understand that this will require some transition and preparation, which is why we are sending this information to you now so that you can plan accordingly. Once the change takes place, we will be sending out additional information including notifications in the system to all users, another community email, and access to a pre-recorded instructional webinar just on this change.

As always, if you have any questions on this or any other matter, please reach out to your Program Specialist for assistance!

Section 504 Management

Managing Section 504

How can you be sure you are effectively managing your district’s 504 data and documentation?

The duties of school districts under The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) continue to expand and the documentation requirements for those students who are eligible for Section 504 are no exception.

School-based Medicaid

EDMS’s School Medicaid Administration System empowers administrators to effectively manage their responsibility to submit compliant claims for Special Education students who are enrolled with Medicaid.

Special Education Management

Adori™ is our web-based integrated IEP software and special education management system. With a focus on compliance and efficiency, it is a total special education management process at your fingertips.
